ADSI Version 2.5 or later.

Top

#101) Why does ThruFax unexpectedly stop working after clicking Start on the ThruFax console Control tab?

A flow has not been set up properly.

  1. Make sure that at least one flow is active - a check should appear to the left of the flow on the ThruFax console Flow tab.
  2. Make sure that the Addressee List assigned to the flow is active - a check should appear to the left of the entry on the Addressee List tab.
  3. If the problem persists, click View Current File on the ThruFax console Control tab. If you cannot solve any problems listed in the file, call ThruFax technical support.

#200) When do changes to an Addressee List or flow take place?

Changes take place after the service has been stopped and re-started on the Control tab of the ThruFax console.

#201) Why does a "No" symbol appear to the left of a flow on the ThruFax console Flow tab?

The flow has not been set up properly.

  1. Make sure that source parameters are entered correctly.
  2. Make sure that a routing protocol is installed for every Send option method used in the flow's Addressee List. For example, if faxes sent to an addressee route to a folder, the folder routing protocol must be installed.

#202) Why can't I activate a flow that uses MAPI as a routing protocol?

Addressee Send options must be specially configured for MAPI. Set up addressee Send options as follows:

#300) Must the ThruFax console be open for the application to work?

No. The service works after you click Start on the ThruFax console Control tab. The service stops when you click Stop or the computer is shut down.

#400) Why do Addressees appear listed in red after importing an address book?

Red listings are duplicate entries which often occur after accessing a MAPI Address Book Source. When you access a MAPI source, you may be able to choose multiple containers that may duplicate addressees, as shown below.

To avoid duplicate addressees, expand the container tree when you import addressees and select addressees individually instead of by branch.

To remove duplicate addressees, highlight a duplicate entry in the Individual Addressees list and click Remove. Or, deactivate a duplicate entry by de-selecting the checkbox at the left of the listing.

#401) In an NT environment, why am I having trouble using an Address Book Source on a Lotus Notes 4.6 server?

This is due to incompatibilities between NT, ADSI, and Lotus Notes. Install ThruFax in a Windows 2000 Professional or Server environment.

#402) Can I import and address list from a GroupWise MAPI client?

No. Though ThruFax integrates well with the GroupWise MAPI client, the import of addressees is not possible. The suggested import source  when using GroupWise is an LDAP directory.

#500) Why are so many of my faxes going to the Default Addressee?

ThruFax will send faxes to the Default Addressee if it cannot identify an addressee that is included in the flow's Addressee List. Either the addressee information on the fax is illegible or the Addressee List information is inadequate.

Follow these steps to improve routing performance:

  1. Select Analyze second fax page to determine addressees in the Flow Properties dialog. This lets ThruFax go past the cover page when it tries to find addressee information.
  2. If possible, ask the people who send you faxes to use a printer to enter addressee information on the cover page and to send the fax in fine mode (200x200 dpi). Unless the handwriting recognition module is installed, ThruFax cannot identify an addressee that is handwritten.
  3. Make sure that addressees' Name and Send options information are correct in the Individual Addressee Properties dialog.

#600) How can I check the status of my license?

Click the ThruFax console Control tab and view license information in the Status: box under License option.

#800) The buttons within the ThruFax console overlap - what do I do?

Change your monitor font size to Small. In the Windows NT Display control panel, set the Font Size on the Settings tab. In the Windows 2000 Display control panel, click Settings/Advanced and set Font Size on the General tab.

#801) Can I export ThruFax data (such as OCR'ed text) directly to a database such as an SQL server?

Not in Version 2.0. This feature will be available in a future version.
