The Applications Manager streamlines the push process handled by the BES by importing user groups directly from enterprise repositories such as Active Directory and SQL databases and automatically updating any changes. And, instead of an administrator setting up different software configurations for each possible deployment of applications, the Applications Manager automatically generates and applies the required software configuration as needed to each user.

METAmessage further optimizes the push process with the following capabilities:

• Increases successful push attempt rates by automatically performing workarounds such as re-indexing applications, handling SQL records and "package folder/files," and overcoming device invalid states.
• Lets administrators schedule pushes for time "windows" when device usage is low. For example, updates can be set to occur between 9pm and 7am.
• Handles users not otherwise included in group membership policies.

To minimize the load on the BES, the software automatically parses the overall user population to smaller sub-groups (for example, 200 users per sub-group per BES), and processes sub-groups to conveniently manage up to tens of thousands of users.

Also, the Applications Manager provides extended reporting and inventories of all users, modules and applications, and also lets administrators set up customizable messages to end users, notifying them of the status of applications on their individual devices.
